Safety Performance Management Measures Final Rules Overview – Long Description

This complex table lists a set of performance measures and the state target and MPO target for each, as follows:

Performance Measure: Number of Fatalities. For this measure, the target reported in the HSIP Annual Report for FHWA should equal the target reported in the Highway Safety Plan for NHTSA. The MPO target for this measure should support the state target OR establish an MPO-specific target.

Performance Measure: Rate of Fatalities per 100 Million VMT. For this measure, the target reported in the HSIP Annual Report for FHWA should equal the target reported in the Highway Safety Plan for NHTSA. The MPO target for this measure should support the state target OR establish an MPO-specific target.

Performance Measure: Number of Serious Injuries. For this measure, the target reported in the HSIP Annual Report for FHWA should equal the target reported in the Highway Safety Plan for NHTSA. The MPO targetfor this measure should support the state target OR establish an MPO-specific target.

Performance Measure: Rate of Serious Injuries per 100 Million VMT. For this measure, the state starget is the target reported in the HSIP Annual Report for FHWA. This measure is not required in the Highway Safety Plan for NHTSA. The MPO target for this measure should support the state target OR establish an MPO-specific target.

Performance Measure: Number of Non-motorized Fatalities and Non-motorized Serious Injuries. For this measure, the state starget is the target reported in the HSIP Annual Report for FHWA. This measure is not required in the Highway Safety Plan for NHTSA. The MPO target for this measure should support the state target OR establish an MPO-specific target.
