Splice Length Behavior of Lightweight High-Performance Concrete (LWHPC)
Project Information
This Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) research program focuses on lightweight high-performance concrete (LWHPC) in the gap of equilibrium densities ranging from conventional lightweight to normal weight concrete. The splice length behavior portion of the investigation involves testing 40 medium scale mild steel reinforced beams composed of LWHPC produced using aggregates representative of those available in North America.
The result of the study will be to recommend changes to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load and Resistance Factor Bridge Design (LRFD) specification relevant to LWHPC.
