Onsite Integration and Analysis of Pedestrian Wayfinding Technologies

Project Information

Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-17-0031
Project Abstract:

The objective of this task order is to develop a better understanding of the range and limitations of systems that could assist with pedestrian travel, situationally awareness, and safety. To that end, work on this project will test and evaluate the abilities of each of the three pedestrian wayfinding technologies to develop maps and routes of indoor and outdoor environments, and to locate and provide navigation instruction to pedestrian users. A better understanding of the limitations of each system – and a combination of the technologies within each – will provide a foundation for future research and development needs.
