NBIAS Enhancements and Economic Evaluation of Bridge Investment Needs for 25th & 26th C&P Reports

Project Information

Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-19-0037
Project Abstract:

Consistent maintenance and improvement of bridge investment analysis software in support of investment inquiries, asset management analysis, and development of the Nation's Highways, Bridges, and Transit: Conditions and Performance report to Congress (C&P report). FHWA needs a planning-level analysis tool for bridge needs that is customized to work from National Bridge Inventory data (NBI data) for production of the C&P report.

This project includes preparation of the NBI data for analysis, updating of parameters, and running NBIAS simulations for FHWA's use in developing a series of 20-year capital investment scenarios for inclusion in a biennial report to Congress.  Version 5.4 improvements add the capability to conduct consolidated national level bridge assessments utilizing a mix of detailed element-level data for some bridges and summary rating data for other bridges.
