National Highway System Tracker Scanning
Project Information
The objective of this project is to scan archival Interstate Highway System paper files for upload into the National Highway System (NHS) Tracker application. The scanning and input of historical files will allow Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) users access to documentation of the development of the interstate system. The documentation dating from 1939 to 1991 is currently maintained at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and is only accessible by visiting their facility. These files once scanned and uploaded will allow field staff searches for applicable correspondence on segments of the NHS. This effort shall include coordination with the FHWA Offices of Policy and Planning, Environment, & Realty and the National Archives and Records Administration to coordinate the scanning of the 52 boxes of files at NARA and of 15 boxes of files at FHWA HQ. In addition, this project will provide for reinstatement of the software support and 2 years of technical support for the NHS Tracker.
