Layered Object Recognition System for Pedestrian Sensing
Project Information
The objective of this project is to develop a portable in-vehicle pedestrian sensing system that will have 95 percent reliability in detecting a moving object within a 100-foot range along the driving path. The final product will consist of frame and cameras that can be easily installed in vehicles. Vision-based object detection, tracking and 2D/3D recognition algorithms and real-time processing software will be developed and burned into an on-board chip. Real-time processing speed will be achieved by applying rapid processing algorithms on earlier layers of the image, and more computationally expensive algorithms on smaller and smaller regions of the succeeding layers.
