Integrated Vehicle-to-Infrastructure Prototype Development
Project Information
The contractor shall develop an integrated vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) prototype system that brings results from mapping, positioning, communications research, and Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT) and related message-set development into a single operating environment that supports V2I communications-based connected-vehicle (CV) applications. In developing the integrated V2I prototype, the project incorporates stakeholder input in identifying the critical components that are necessary to bring CV infrastructure systems to deployment and engage stakeholders to ensure that efforts are coordinated with related activities. The contractor shall perform the necessary systems engineering activities, systems integration, and testing to develop a sound platform for V2I applications to function. The contractor shall develop the documentation necessary to convey the concept and technical content to stakeholders who may develop or refine V2I applications and/or implement infrastructure systems based on the Integrated V2I Prototype.
Goals:
The key project objectives are listed below:
- Develop a V2I prototype system that provides a full complement of infrastructure capability to support V2I communications-based, connected vehicle applications.
- Test this prototype at Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center in the Saxton Transportation Operations Laboratory: CV Highway Testbed.
- Document the design and prototype to enable subsequent implementation activities by other parties.
