Establishing Pathway to Advancing Novel Data Analytics (PANDA) Initial Operating Capability

Project Information

Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-22-0005
Project Abstract:

The demand for application of applied data science, including but not limited to artificial intelligence (AI), big data and advanced analytics, is a notable growing need among the stakeholders that Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) support. State and local agencies are seeking information that will allow them to value the potential of their data resources. The challenge of being "data rich, information poor" is a phenomenon observed in nearly every discipline in which FHWA provides leadership and national perspective.

TFHRC is poised to provide leadership in the research and development of advanced data science in a manner that is interdisciplinary and that can work across the stovepipes of information stores around the country. Leadership includes exploring and solving difficult transportation questions using emerging analytical tools and approaches at TFHRC and in partnership with others through coordination and cooperation. To this aim, TFHRC is seeking to establish a new Pathway to Advancing Novel Data Analytics (PANDA) Laboratory.
