E-Bike Research/Technical Assistance
Project Information
Project consists of research and outreach to identify existing and potential impacts related to ebike use.
Task 1: Literature review on the impacts of ebikes, with a focus on ebike safety and ridership trends in a variety of contexts, including on trails, public lands, and urban, suburban, and rural areas. These findings will be summarized in a memo detailing key findings, accompanied by an annotated bibliography.
Task 2: 10 case studies that examine how State and local jurisdictions and public land managers have managed and regulated ebikes, to develop lessons learned from different areas across the country.
Task 3: Develop outreach materials that can be shared on the FHWA website and at conferences and events.
Task 4: Participate in a technical review group to provide input on project deliverables and share expertise on the impacts of ebikes.
