The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is an intermodal transportation agency charged with planning, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining Rhode Island's transportation facilities including highways, marine, and freight rail.
The Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Emergency Relief, or ER, program can help State and local agencies fund repairs to Federal-aid eligible roads, bridges, and other infrastructure after a natural disaster such as hurricanes.
The repair work within the right-of-way of Federal-aid highways is usually eligible to receive ER funds, if the roadway is in an affected county that is included in the Governor’s Declaration or Presidential Declaration.
FHWA's Rhode Island Division is located in Room 601 of the Federal Center at 380 Westminster Street, between Empire and Snow Streets, in Downcity Providence. We're approximately six miles north of T.F. Green Airport. Off I-95, take Exit 21 (Broadway from the south and Atwells Avenue from the north).
