Volpe Intra-Agency Agreement - Alternative Fuel Vehicle and Infrastructure Technical and Programmatic Support
Project Information
This project provides support from and access to a multi-disciplinary team to help achieve an integrated approach toward the continued implementation of Section 1413, and related activities and initiatives that have resulted from this provision of the FAST Act. This IAA contains the following tasks:
Task 1: Project planning and management.
Task 2: Support of FAST Act: section 1413 alternative fuel corridor designations.
Task 3: Support for deployment of alternative vehicle and fuels technologies (pooled fund) initiative.
Task 4: Support for related alternative fuel initiatives and efforts.

- Completed corridor designation process (five rounds).
- Technical assistance to State DOT’s, energy and environmental offices, and other stakeholders on alternative fuel infrastructure inquiries.
- Completed geographical information system maps by fuel type.
Rounds one through five of FHWA's Alternative Fuel Corridor Designations, have included:
- 125 nominations received from state and local officials.
- Includes portions/segments of 134 Interstates, along with 125 US highways/state roads.
- Comprises 49 states plus D.C..
- Covers approximately 165,722 miles of the National Highway System (all fuels combined).
