Student Research in Transportation Data
Project Information
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Operations Research and Development has a new initiative to create the data resources testbed within its transportation operations laboratory. As part of this initiative, the testbed will be acquiring access to a number of high-resolution, real-time, and archived data streams (for example, the connected vehicle proof-of-concept testing in Detroit, Portland Oregon regional transportation data archive listing (PORTAL), and private sector data sources). The summer project will focus on supporting the assessment of potential data sources, collecting data, and working with data using a variety of analysis tools. In addition, the project will work to exercise the capabilities of the prototype connected vehicle data capture and management portal.
Goals
The objectives of this project are to:
- Examine multisource transportation datasets from existing data warehouses and the new connected vehicle data capture and management portal.
- Use data analysis tools to compare different datasets.
